This league was created by Rob Pilz, Nick Pariseault and Andrew Ralph back in 2014. We had a vision for an inexpensive and exciting league. We brought that dream to life in 2015 when we hosted our first season as Rage Hockey. We started off in Methuen, MA and by the end of the season made our way over to Salem, NH. We had a great group of teams The Bombers, The Wolves, The Blizzards and The Panthers. In our first season The Blizzards took home their first championship. In our second season we made the move to Lawrence, MA after the Salem location closed down. At this time we made a brand change and instead of Rage Hockey we dubbed ourselves Merrimack Valley Hockey League or MVHL for short. We spent the next few years here with the Blizzards taking home the championships in 2016 and 2017. For our fourth season we made the move to Derry. We had six teams at this point The Bombers, The Wolves, The Knights, The Panthers, The Outlaws, and The Hawks. The first season in Derry saw the Outlaws win the championship. Over the next few seasons we saw changes to the league dropping from 6 teams to 4 as we had The Outlaws, The Bombers, The Wolves, and The Vipers now. The league saw trade off championship wins between The Outlaws, The Wolves, and The Bombers.
During Covid we introduced a fall session to our players and began holding 2 different sessions. We continue this trend today as we prepare for our 9th season.
Our league has had the distinct pleasure of the Jason R Flood Memorial sponsoring our league over the last few years. This organization has been a fantastic thing for the community and an outlet for so many. The push to have more eyes and ears on the importance of Mental Health and the drive to ensure you know your not alone has impacted so many lives including many of our own players. We thank the Flood Family for their continued support and allowing us to honor their son Jason Flood who played for the Blizzards in our first two seasons. Jason was a beast in the rink and a wholesome all around good guy outside of the rink, sadly Jason took his own life in November of 2016. We made the decision to officially retire the number 6 in Jason's honor as well as name our championship trophies after him.
